She started her career in the entertainment business in the '90s when she lost a bet and had to perform as a stand-up comedian at a friend's club. Yvette, who majored in communications (radio and television) at San José State University, decided to make a living of off comedy and never turned back. Her big break came with Thea, a short-lived sitcom which was cancelled after 18 episodes, nevertheless the show helped push Wilson onto bigger, more important roles. In 1996, she took on her most important role to date, Andell, a supporting character on the acclaimed sitcom Moesha, as well as in its spin-off The Parkers. She went on to appear in shows like HBO's Def Comedy Jam and FOX Network shows.
